With about over a hundred species, the rose symbolizes not just love but also beauty and war. Its color variations convey a hundred messages and meanings that speak more than words can say and provide deeper meanings more than the eyes and the heart can ever see, feel and imagine. Sending or giving someone flowers is like sending someone a message from the heart. If you cannot speak your heart out, then let roses speak for you.

The language of colors has been in the history long time ago. 'The Culture of Flowers' by Jack Goody reveals that giving meanings to flowers originally came from the East while the art of speaking through flowers may have originated from Persia when written language was forbidden for the women and later travelled to Europe. The meaning of flowers and its colors can be highly subjective but some are universally accepted that until now, has gained a multi-faceted meaning compared to the traditional ones.

A white rose, which signifies purity, innocence and sincerity, is often the color and flower of choice by brides on their wedding event as it is generally perceived that white convey the purest intentions and that the recipient is worthy of such. It is also the main reason that most brides prefer their gown white as an emblem of innocence. For a dramatic effect, white roses are used for bridal bouquets, corsages and other decors.

Red as fiery as it appears may mean intense of emotions such as love, courage and devotion. Red roses remain the classic choice of the majority as it signifies a variety of meanings from gratitude to courage and from war to friendship. 'Rose Red' by Stephen King is a mixture of intense assortment of emotions ranging from fear, grief, anger, betrayal to friendship and loyalty. Red also means death like the color of blood.

Orange, peach and coral-colored roses are closely interrelated with each other thus their meaning closely resemble each other too that convey fervor, energy, desire, fascination, appreciation and enthusiasm over a person or intentions. Since these are vibrant colors, these flowers embody cheerfulness and represent the relaxing colors of the rainbow, enthralling hues of the sunset and awakening magnificence of the breaking dawn.

If you are too overwhelmed by the mixture of emotions and too tongue-tied to speak-up, two red roses intertwined together will do the talking for you even if the most awaited words 'marry me' does not come out of your mouth as flowers will do the talking with grace and art that no amount of words can color more than flowers do.
